Optimization of a Supersonic Business Jet

A supersonic corporate jet is optimized with CART3D. Colors represent pressure levels (red is high, blue is low). Note the complexity of the geometry. This one solution required approximately one cpu-hour of time on a modern desktop computer, from grid-generation to converged solution. Using CART3D and DAI tools, this aircraft was optimized for minimum drag at cruise lift conditions with a response-surface-based methodology.
