Applied Aerodynamics: A Digital Textbook

This electronic textbook on aerodynamics for university students is read using a web browser. It includes a number of java applets, video clips, and color pictures. The textbook is provided as a compressed (ZIP) archive, with a download link made available at time of purchase. Please contact us directly for site-license for corporate or academic intranets.

The buttons on the right may be used to purchase the Aerodynamics textbook through our on-line store. Note that a valid academic email address is required to qualify for acadmic pricing.

LinAir 4

Computes aerodynamic characteristics of complete configurations. A discrete vortex Weissinger program with linearly tapered and twisted elements. Quadratic profile drag integration and Trefftz-plane induced drag computation. Support for asymmetric flight conditions, roll, pitch and yaw rates. Easy-to-use interface, built-in plotting and 3-D geometry display. Perfect for computing interference of wing and canard, aft tail, or winglets. Java-based, available for most platforms.

Aircraft Design Workshop

The ADW program was developed as an interactive museum exhibit that allows the user to investigate the trade-offs involved in the design of a commercial transport aircraft. The aircraft wing geometry, cruise conditions, tail configuration, seating layout, propulsion system and range are chosen by clicking on a variety of options. The aircraft performance and constraints are evaluated using standard preliminary design methods, and the results are displayed in colorful graphic form. A simple expert system helps the user meet field length, climb, range, and thrust constraints. Available for MacOS only.
