Selecting Tail Geometry

This page allows you to change the tail design. Tail type, size, and shape may be changed by clicking at the desired picture. If you make the tail too small, the airplane can have trouble with stability and control, while tails that are larger than necessary add weight and drag. Experiment with tail size and shape, especially if the expert system mentions that there are problems balancing. Most commercial aircraft have horizontal tails that are 20% to 30% of the wing area.
