Select the type of engine, the total thrust, and the engine layout by clicking on the images on the engine page.
The three engine types include an older low bypass ratio turbojet, a more modern high bypass turbo- fan, and an "advanced concept" unducted fan or propfan engine that is somewhat more expensive but can save 15%-25% in fuel.
The total thrust of the engines (as measured at sea level when the airplane is not moving) can be adjusted by clicking on the thermometer. Too little thrust can result in long take-off runway requirements, or insufficient climb angles. Too much thrust leads to overly expensive designs and a penalty in weight and drag.
