Selecting Cruise Settings

Click on the speed, altitude, and fuel weight dials to set these values for your airplane.

The Mach number (speed / speed of sound) is displayed on the left portion of the screen. The airplane design becomes more difficult as the Mach number increases beyond .8 or .85, while jet engines tend to be inefficient at low Mach numbers.

The fuel weight is indicated in 1000's of pounds. Pick this value and then do the analysis to see if it can be reduced or if more fuel is needed.
